BFC Capital

Milieu

BFC Capital was established in 2004 as a general financial product distribution house.

The Company started working on advisory model in 2010, almost 3 years before when SEBI realised the need of advisory model in investment industry and came up with a new set of regulation called SEBI (Investment Advisor) Regulation, 2013.

Contemplating the motive behind theses regulations, we registered ourselves as RIA in the name of BFCIA.

Our Researches & Surveys

We are known for our in depth researches to understand the investment behavioural patterns of Retail investors and our unique methods of managing Corporate treasuries and Institutional investments.

In 2010, we conducted a survey through IIM-Lucknow interns on investment behaviour of retail investors and concluded that basically there are two types of investors in our industry.

One whose primary motive of investment is to reap maximum returns like Corporate treasuries or High net worth individuals.

Second is retail investors whose primary motive is (actually should be) to achieve certain financial goals. They should be concerned more with attainment of goals than maximising returns. The problem arises when retail investors try to clown HNI segment and try to maximise returns and thereby taking more risk than he/she can afford.

With the poor financial literacy ratio in India, the retail investors are unable to assess the associated risk in a particular product and therefore usually left with a bad taste of the market.

We started conducting these surveys and researches and got to understand that retail investors should invest not to maximise returns rather to achieve content.

Our Wealth Management Matrix-Prodigy

We also understood that there should be two different method of catering these two segments of investment market participants.

For example, the complex theories of portfolio management, fundamental and technical analysis and other strategies for delivering maximum returns in case of HNI/Corporate investors will not at all work in case of Retail investors.

Which made us to think beyond existing theories and strategies and we started developing our own wealth management matrix unique for Retail investors.

In 2013, we succeeded in developing our own Wealth management matrix called “Prodigy” which suggests the steps of financial management for retail investors.

Our Mobile App solution for retail Investors: MF Prodigy

We found that in India, Retail investors do not have many options of investment and one product they can not and should not avoid is Mutual Funds.(Though the understanding of MF is poor and the way it has been sold in India is debatable)

In 2015, We developed a subset of Prodigy which deals with MF exclusively and we wrote an algorithm for the benefit of retail investors called “MF Prodigy”. Read more about “MF Prodigy”

For this we propounded an altogether new theory of comparison and analysis of Mutual Funds called “Reverse Pyramid Theory”.(read more about reverse pyramid theory)

The next task was to transform this theory into practical application through mobile app.

In 2016, We launched our mobile app “ MF Prodigy” available on Play Store and IOS.

We believe that soon MF Prodigy will change the way retail investors invest their money.

Our Awareness Campaign: Quality Circle Programme

One thing which is also evident from our Surveys was that without educating retail investors one can not think about increasing their participation in capital market.

There have been a lot of incidences where retail investors have fallen prey to mis-selling and frauds just because of their lack of awareness.

We developed a platform in 2010 where we conduct awareness programme to retail investors regularly. We call it “ Quality Circle Program.”Read more about “Quality Circle Programme”

We have been conducting Q.C. Program since May 2010 and more than 200 programmes have been conducted by us benefitting more than 7000 families. The Glimpse of our Quality circle Programme can be seen on our facebook page. Click Here

We developed our unique way of telling retail investors what they should do and what they should not do with their finances and we call those wisdom shoots as “ Gospels”.

We train and develop our team members to deliver these presentations and conduct these programmes and people who are qualified to give presentations are called “ Apostles”.

We believe, that no wealth management company understands retail investors the way as we do.

As you are reading this, We request you to go through the whole website and we will try to provide you all the financial wisdom and solutions you require.

It goes without saying, if you have any peculiar question in mind that we have failed to answer, please feel free to call/mail us or submit your query.

BFC Capital P. Limited is a Financial product Distribution Company formed in 2004 while BFCIA (Bharti Financial Consultants and Investment Advisors) is a SEBI Registered Investment Advisor Firm and a subsidiary of BFC Capital. We are managing an Asset under management of approx. Rs. 4 billion in Mutual Funds, Rs. 300 million in PMS and more than 500 million in Saving products with a client base of more than 6000 retail clients and more than 100 institutional clients. We have been selected as top 20 most promising wealth management consultants in India in 2016 and top 50 consulting firms in India in 2017. The company has two separate verticals of Retail Advisory and Institutional Segment.

Retail Advisory: Fee Based Model

In retail segment, we work on advisory model and we call it membership model. We charge a nominal fee per annum to avail our advisory services and call it Membership Model. Once a client becomes our member, one of our wealth manager (WM) schedule a meeting to understand member’s psychology, past investments, risk taking ability and goal identifications etc. We have uniquely designed format to gather vital informations and inputs about our members and we call it “Working papers” and after filling up Working Papers, the Wealth Manager feed those inputs to our central Advisory Team to analyse and recommend. The Central Advisory Team, on the basis of our Wealth management Matrix- Prodigy, develop and present a plan/model portfolio/recommendations. The designated WM again seeks for a meeting with member and detail him the plan made. Such plan, once approved by the member, is executed. Such designated WM is mapped with the member to take care of their financial concerns and to provide personalised services. In addition to these personalised services, the member is provided with a user id & password to watch, execute and amend his portfolio online through our web portal or mobile app – “MF Prodigy”. Portfolio review is a vital part of the portfolio management and therefore, we do half yearly portfolio review of every member in April and October every year. All our recommendations and suggestions will be in writing with a proper reasoning.

Non Fee based Model

We realised that paying fee might be an obstacle for a small retail investor and therefore launched MF Prodigy. A simple mobile app to provide advisory, execution and portfolio viewing In a seamless manner. The level of quality in advice through mobile app is at par with the quality in fee based model as the product basket is designed by algorithm.

Institutional Segment

Like we said earlier, Investment management theories apply to retail investors, won’t apply to Corporate and Institutional Category. “Prodigy Plus”- our Wealth management matrix for Institutional Investors define the step wise prioritised process for their investment management. As we always say to our clients that Investment is not a random thing and investments done in bits and pieces are not going to solve the objectives i.e. every investment you are going to make should be seen in sync with other investments made already. Realising this we developed Prodigy Plus to provide solution taking into considerations comprehensive portfolios of Institutional clients, their priorities, their investment horizons, tax implications and Regulatory requirements, if any, simultaneously.
